Danish Proverb – Few women turn grey because their husband dies

The Enchantress

Apeksha tied the knot with the love of her life as soon as she got out of college. Despite of having a master’s degree she wasn’t much inclined on working and since her beau was a good earner, she didn’t have to. Having the beauty and health of youth, she made the most of her idle life at home. She alternated her time between audacious shopping sprees, extravagant social outings and gaudy instances of self-indulgence. Having a wide social circle and an insatiable desire for acquiring the newest fashion, she led the most fulfilling life. “Let’s get away for the weekend Ranjeet. It’s been a while since I went out of town”, she would often urge her husband to take a short vacation.

Apart from her financial futility she was the ideal wife. She cooked scrumptious meals for her husband and his family, took special care for all his needs, played and assumed any position required in the bed. Being with a person she loved and reaping the fruits of his wealth was Apeksha’s life-long dream and it had just come true. The love for her husband was driven largely by the need of a luxurious life, and to a much smaller extent by the actual love for the man.
But Life detected the falsehood of her love and took corrective actions.

Ranjeet, the benevolent beau, soon met his demise in a horrible car wreck. Apeksha was shattered, partly because of losing the love of her life but mostly because of the realization that she had to put a stop on her flamboyant ways now. Being deprived of her daily dose of debauchery, she soon lost all her glitter and became a wraith. Wanting to resume her succulent life she started looking for prospective men who could attain to her countless whims.
Remarriage is a tricky task in a conservative land like India. Various finicky questions arise, like, whose consent is to be taken for the marriage, the parents or the in-laws? Who is to pay for the whole event? Who all should be invited to the ceremony? What will be the legal process to change the last name of the girl, again?

After battling all such questions Apeksha was all set to marry Chintan. She had been Chintan’s long time love interest but she had rejected him on account of his fickle income. But now with a massive amendment in his income, and the change in circumstances, Chintan had become a successful scion of her heart.

“I am so glad that life has given our relationship a second chance”, Chintan often said this to his beautiful wife. What a devoted husband he turned out to be. Everything that he did was just to please and gain approval of his wife. He never argued, never asked unnecessary questions; about expenditure or the unruly state of their household and he answered all the questions fervently. To Chintan the happiness of his wife was of prime importance, nothing mattered in front of it. Things were going very smoothly since the current of money was strong and swift. They soon conceived a baby boy and decided to name him Rahul.

The roulette of life spun and the ball didn’t quite fall on the pocket betted on by Chintan. He suffered a huge loss in his business and thus his income diminished as soon as it had grown. He was no longer able to provide the luxury that his wife and child demanded. “It’s just a minor setback honey”, he gave Apeksha a false assurance, and said “We will be back on our feet in no time.” The decline of his bank credit had a similar effect on their love-credit too. Since he was no longer the provider of luxury to her, she discarded him in every possible way. The playful fumbling in the bedroom was replaced by back-to-back sleeping postures.

Driven by financial ineptitude and sexual frustration, Chintan ventured out of his house to seek love. There being no shortage of takers of married men in the female world, he quickly found a feline to get intimidate with.

“How long is this act of adultery being going on?” fumed Apeksha, when she found out about her husband’s infidelity. “I can’t believe that you did this to me. I have been so loyal to you despite all your shortcomings.” She was glad on some level that her husband did something like this since now she had a way out of this dreaded marriage, but she had to at least pretend to care. All that night Chintan pleaded her to take him back and how big a mistake he had committed.

His honest pleas might have been heard if the wife in question was truly a devoted one, but since she wasn’t, they weren’t. Having made up her mind, she soon filled for a divorce. It went all in the favor of Apeksha, from getting custody of the child to receiving a hefty alimony every month, she got it all. No wife, no child, no money, no love, these factors tormented Chintan beyond reconciliation and he took to the bottle and eventually to the gun. Apeksha’s only grief to his passing was not receiving the monthly alimony checks.

Time flows swifter then the swiftest rivers. Time had been unfairly gentle with Apeksha. She was middle-aged now but still retained the charisma of beauty, which she put to a great use. Over the time she had numerous liaisons with men to satisfy her varying needs. This, combined with the generous bounty from the divorce went a long way to set her up in the most upscale manner. Little Rahul was sent away to boarding schools as much as possible to keep him out of her mother’s affairs. Her life had become stable now but Apeksha, the Enchantress, was not satisfied with this and started aiming for the stars.

A rich woman shows no worry when her husband dies

A rich woman is not worried when her husband dies !!
Mr Shubrato was a charming elderly gentleman, a wealthy industrialist and a womanizer. In his long life he had many escapades with marriage and now closing to his retirement he preferred bachelorhood over matrimony. But this preference was about to change the moment the Enchantress laid eyes on him. Having perfected the art of alluring men of prominence into her web, she began working her magic on Shubrato. Men of no matter what age can be treated as puppets if you satisfy their coital desires. And The Enchantress with the help of her highly advanced and well-trained libido and the miracles of pharmaceutical companies, did more than just satisfy the old man, she managed to make him happy. He then strutted around her like a dog around a piece of meat.

“What’s the use of living all alone at this old age? I have a brilliant idea, let’s get married so we can be each other’s support pillars”, suggested Apeksha, after a spell of fiery lovemaking. Blinded or confused by concupiscent desires and the declivity of old aged hormones, Shubrato made an abrupt decision to break his stag existence and in a grand exotic location got married to Apeksha. The newly-wed old couple was very contented with each other. Shubrato’s charming personality went along very well with her pageantry. Owing to the copious amount of wealth in his possession, The Enchantress was able to experience a new level of luxury that she never knew existed. Flying in private jets, driving sports cars, holidaying in exotic locations, eating at nothing below a 5-star hotel were the usual doings of the new found opulence. She was addicted to this lifestyle in moments.

Time began to raise its ugly head in the life of Apeksha once again. The suction created by time soon shriveled the manly hood of Shubrato beyond any purpose. With his ‘vital organs’ rendered futile he gradually began to lose interest in other worldly affairs. Food soon lost its taste, the sight of a beautiful woman failed to produce charming words out of his mouth, the dazzle of city lights seemed to be blinding. “Won’t you come out with me tonight? We will dance under the stars at your favorite hotel”, she said enthusiastically. Almost in a drowsy state, he replied, “Don’t feel like going out tonight my love, I feel too tired. You may carry on with your friends if you like”, and almost slipped into a slumber. This situation only got worst with time as he continued to develop more vegetable like properties.

‘What if he dies on me? I don’t think he has left me anything in his will. I can’t go back to my sorry old lifestyle!’ she thought frantically. Having thoroughly analyzed the situation, she dedicated all of her energies to capturing as much of his wealth as possible. She made use of ambiguous lawyers and evasive signatures, combined with a haze of medications, to pilfer much of his property for her; denying Shubrato’s rightful heirs much of the riches. Now having swindled enough wealth to last her 10 life times, she found it very tiresome to take care of her ailing husband. The husband himself having lost all the will to live made it even more difficult.

One night she sneaked in a malicious medicine with his usual intake. The night darkened and the medicine did its work. Shubrato’s breathing choked at one point and he died noiselessly in his sleep.

Rahul is all grown up by now. He along with his mother heads a very large company which churns out tons of money every year. The Enchantress lived happily ever after.
