There is no point in spending for perfection if peoples perception is low

There is no point in spending for perfection if peoples perception is low. UK post was delivering 97% of letters within 1 day from any part of UK to any other part. They spent almost Billion pounds in systems to improve on the delivery to 99%. But people had a perception of performance as 64% and after UK post spent the amount people perception was 69%.

When people’s perceptions is so low, then there is no point in spending so much on the system.

If people in the neighbourhood of a Teacher think low of the teacher then by reading a few more books alone for himself the teacher is NOT going to gain.

If people have low perception regarding a shop then keeping better things in stock will not help.

Active advertizing and perception Management is what is required.

If people think low about a school, by painting the toilets and rooms will not help to get students of ” better ” parents.

I work in Information Technology sector in India. As the company offers work in abroad, I also got this opportunity to shift in United States for a significant period of time. I shifted to this city in US where I needed to put up a nice living as I had to stay till unlimited period of time. I bought this nice apartment in US where I wanted to do decorate every bit of it. I got married recently and I was shifting there with my wife. The apartment has to be fully furnished as I was going to live with my family. Finally, we boarded the flight to the US. After arriving in US, there were many things that I needed to buy. I enquired to my neighbors about the store where I should get all the required stuffs. They advised me to go to the nearest mall to buy the stuff.

Perfectionist

I was eagerly waiting for the holiday to arrive as I had to buy a lot of stuff. Here comes the weekend, I and my wife were ready to go for extensive shopping exercise. We got up early in the morning, freshen ourselves up and got ready for the shopping day. We pushed off from the home in our new vehicle.

We drove to the mall as advised by the neighbor. After parking the vehicle, we entered the mall. The mall looked quite big. We scrolled out our list of things that we needed to buy. We started sifting through the items on display to find out the ideal items that we needed to buy. We took a tour of the entire store to look for things.
The store had wide array of products as displayed on the lounge. As we look to finalize things, we found that the products are not as per our likings. We tried hard to find the right product but to our disappointment, we were not finding it in that store. We were quite amazed that despite the big reputation of the mall, there were many items which were difficult to find. Some products were very costly. We decided to leave the store and try some other store. As we moved out, we were talking about our failed experience. The mall was quite famous in the area. They did quite an advertisement of the mall. As we got close to the mall, there were many placards on the way. The placards were boasting enough for the quality of the store. However, our personal experience was otherwise.

10 Worried and Shocked SKMClasses Bangalore

To our astonishment and disappointment, we were searching for some other store. We were also worried about the waste of time. The mall was very highly anticipated in the region. Now that we had no address to head on we were quite worried about finding the ideal place. We decided to call the local help desk. They advised us about some other well known store which was located some miles away from our present location. We thanked god that we found another destination. We decided to head to that place immediately without wasting any more time. We turned on the GPS and followed it till the place had arrived.

29 Dont shut me down
We entered the new store in quite great hope and expectation. We started strolling through the store to get a feel of the store. We enquired for the areas where we would be finding desired products. As we arrived in the bay, there was a local help guy who advised us about the products. The products looked good but it was again very costly. The store seemed to be for high-end customers. We were calculating about our budget while deciding for the products.

Again to our frustration, the budget was exceeded. We had to try out different permutation and combination while deciding to go for the purchase. Sadly, it was not possible for us to buy stuffs at that place. We had no other option but to leave the place out of distress and agony. The day was finished and we decided to get back to our place and look for the products tomorrow. Before finishing the day, we wanted to do some mood lifting. Hence, we decided to go for a dinner.

We found a place which served Indian food. It had great reputation for quite a long time now. We arrived at the restaurant to have the food. They offered us a nice menu which had almost all kind of Indian food. We decided to have non-vegetarian. First, we ordered some appetizers. We had barbeque in appetizer. Oh, the food was awesome. Yes, it was quite a mood lifter. Finally, the main course and it had some nice curries with breads. We relished the food to no end. We also had a good conversation while planning for the next day. We came out quite relieved as there was something to look upon as the food was great. It was a great evening. We took a nice stroll with hand in hand. We tried some dessert on the way. But, there was something which was missing.

30 Halcyon cutting edge of Relaxation

The unproductive day keep on haunting us in between. We decided not to give it a thought this evening.
Finally, we were on our way home. The cool breeze was soothing as we drove. Hey, we spotted a store on our way back. We talked about giving it a try on the other day. Why not try this one? We tried famous stores and failed to get the thing we needed. We thought that this store must be tried tomorrow. We talked about our experiences at the respective stores and our disappointment. It is really amusing how a store with big reputation and perception fail to provide the things that we require. We thought that the perception and performance should have a match. We retreated to our bed in the night hoping that we get all the stuff tomorrow.

As the dawn set in, we got ready for the day. It was an important day from the perspective that we would have to wait for another week if we didn’t find the desired stuffs. We took our breakfast and pushed off from our home. This store was not very far. We found no advertisements nearby or on the way to the store. It kept us worried about whether we would be able to find our things at that store or not. We arrived at the store. As we enter the store, we found nobody at the entrance to greet us. We looked at each other wondering what kind of store it will be. Anyways, here we are at the store and we moved ahead to have a look at the store. The store was full of products. There was wide assortment of products.

32 Getting rid of wife
To our amazement, the price was also very much on lower side. We were quite happy to find the products at last. We bought the stuffs quite enthusiastically. Almost all the things that we needed were available there. We took all the products and went towards our home happily. Wow, what a store!

We talked how there is perception and performance mismatch these days. The store doesn’t spend a lot on promotion and advertisement but the products are awesome. We were quite amazed about the gap between perception and performance. I hope only with luck we found this place and what a place it turned out to be!  The lesson that we learnt was that perception may not always be correct and performance is what scores best. I am sure one day this store will be more famous with the word of mouth. Word of mouth is also best form of promotion as we know!

This is part of the series on Descriptive Adjectives and words for Creative Writing. A word a day will take too long a time.
You have to read the stories much faster for easier remembering.

To learn the ” meaning ” of an adjective or word from the story. Stories are known as fiction because they have fictitious characters.
An acerbic criticism of some imaginary
( gulling, gamey, clamant, exigent, blabbing, gabbling, palavering, crotchety, inveigling, cantankerous, blarneying, wheedling, chousing ) women.

Strange is this world …. Even the most harridan woman expects her husband to be uxorious.

Reading all the stories will teach you most useful, practical, adjectives for women. The verbs explain what women do in the stories.

Humans enjoy a lot to listen to stories 🙂
It is much easier to remember a word by associating it with stories. That’s what has been done in this site.
